35 Kirstine Donegan Teck Deck experiment

-I chose the Teck Deck experiment, which taught us about the first law of motion.
Which included a Teck Deck (play scateboard) first being applied with no force: no movement, then we applied the force of a push from a hand: movement.

-The science of the Teck Deck experiment: First law of motion: when no force is applied no motion, when force is applied motion; Friction: bumps, walls, objects that slow the experiment.

-How the Teck Deck experiment will help with the rolar coster experiment: The amount of force that needs to applied for the rolar coster to move; Friction: to make sure it has no bumps or blcks to slow it down.

The different physics that are used to make a roller coaster are
Acceleration
Centripetal force
Energy
Force
Friction
gravitiy
G force
Inertia

Mass
Momentum
Velocity
Weight
and of course work

RoLlInG BaLlS On fLoOr:
we had to roll a ball from one end to the other and we had to messure how long it took to get to the other side/end. we also had to roll it three different ways slow, fast, and normal.
we did this expirament because we where studying speed.
speed matters in a roller coaster because the faster it goes the more pressure there is on your body the slower it goes the less pressure on your body.

My favorite thing of science is when we did the egg drop. The cause of the parashoot is that the gravity push on the egg . That made the egg go through the acceleration faze . But the parashoot that I made had air resistance on it causing it to flote down safely to the floor.

roller coaster

must in case if the kid are gong to fall of the rollercoaster they can use there parashoot and float down safely to the floor because of the air resistance.

EgG dRoP:
this expirement was all about air resistance.
our goal was to build a contraption that would fall as slow as possible. we also had to put the egg in it and hope that it wouldn't break. in a roller coaster air resistance would make it stop because without air ressistance it would keep on going.

My favorite experiment in science was the tennis ball throw. We threw tennis balls in the air to see haw far they went. After finding out how far they went, we wrote down the speed. We went back to the class room and did math to find the distance and more math to find the velocity. This experiment was on the acceleration of air. The science was that we were finding how the speed, distance and velocity was of throwing a tennis ball into the air. This is like a roller coaster because you throw the ball up and it comes down. The same happens with a roller coaster. You go up, then you come down. Because whatever goes up, must come down.

  1. Describe expirement

EGG DROP: We had to design a model that was to hold egg in it. The winner was the group who's model fell slower and the egg was still intact. we could do anything to make the model fall slower. we added parachutes, cotton, balloons(no helium)and anything else we had to make it.

2. SCIENCE

Air Resistance:air resistance is friction between air and an object. air resistance is caused when an object bumps into atoms and molecues in the air.

3. How it applies to a roller coaster

air resistance is applied because when the coaster is going down it goes either fast or slow depending on the shape of it

Tennis Ball In The Air

1.Describle The Experiment

We Threw The Tennis Ball Up In The Air, We Started The Time When The Ball Got Really High and We Seen The Ball Drop To The Floor With Lots Of Force.

EGG DROP-AIR RESISTANCE

IN THE AIR DROP WE HAD TO MAKE PARACHUTES FOR THE EGGS THAT WERE AIR RESISTANCE TO MAKE THE EGG'S LANDING SOFT AND SLOW.

THE SCIENCE FOR THE EGG DROB IS
THE RESISTANCE THE PARACHUTE CAN HOLD.

Egg Drop-experiment

The egg drop exmeriment project was really awesome.
We got to go outside and it was really windy. So it was perfect.
The science stuff that was involved was the air resistance.Air resistance is
basically, it is friction between an object and the air.
Bridgette's project and mine craked open. We didnt make the plate suitable for
the egg drop.

one experiment we have done in science is the egg drop experiment where we made a contraption to make Air Resistance to bring the egg down safely while also having it down the slowest air resistance is use when making a roller coaster by slowing down the ride at the end air resistance controls the speed of the roller coaster

Egg Drop Expirement.(:

-This Expirement Was About Air Resistance , We Had To Make Something That The Egg Could Be Secure In. &Then Miss.Zimmer Would Drop The Egg From The Top Of The Ladder The Winning Team Was The Team With The Slowest Time Of The Egg Coming Down And Not Breaking.
The Egg Drop Expirement Is Like A Roller Coaster Because

Egg drop- Air resistance

The egg drop was that we had to build a air resistance ship that would carry a egg. We had to make a ship that would last longer in the air while its dropping and with out letting the egg brake.

Science Air resistance is some thing that is against air. Ex when you drop a flat paper and it glides that is air resistance.

Air resistance will help a roller coaster by going slow in a curve.

Tech Deck

1. we used my tech deck to show the first law of Motion.

2. the first law of motion is "Objects in motion attend to be in motion and objects at rest attend to be at rest."

3. if the roller coster is not moving it will remain in that position until it moves.

EGG-DROP-EXPERIMENT

It WAS REALLY AN AWESOME EXPERIMENT BECAUSE
WE GOT TO GO OUTSIDE AND LAUGH TOO.
THE SCIENCE STUFF THAT WAS INVOLVED WITH THIS PROJECT..
WAS AIR RESISTANCE WHICH IS FRICTION BETWEEN..
AN OBJECT AND THE AIR.
MINE AND ALANA'S EGG CRACKED COMPLETLEY..
WE DID'T REALLY MAKE THE EGG SUITABLE FOR THE DROP OFF..
THIS EXPERIMENT CAN BE SIMILAR TO THE ROLLER-COASTER PROJECT..
WE ARE GONNA START DOING THAT AND ROLLER-COASTER..
RIDES ARE KIND OF THE SAME AND I THINK THEY..
BOTH HAVE AIR RESISTANCE TOO!!!!!

Egg Drop Experiment Kirstine Donegan

-I chose the egg drop experiment, using air resistance.
Which made us create a object to carry the egg to make it not break when it proceeded to be thrown down from a ladder. We had to come up with a list of things that worked (egg did not break, took a longer time) and things that did not work (egg broke, fell quicker than majority.) We were not alound any helium or other chemicals to make the objet fall slower, only air resistance, which we created ourselfs.

-The science of the experiment is: Air resistance; Force = mass * acceloration; graviety; physics.

-A way to impliment this in the rolar coster experiment: Things need to be protected in a rollar coster so they don't fall out, The amount of force being added, creating air resistance, and physics

1.Describe Experiment
Tech Deck-Newtons First Law of Motion
with the Tech Deck experiment we placed a tech deck on a flat surface and observed to see if it would move if nothing interfered with it. then we applied force onto the tech deck and observed the results. we also saw the things that could stop the tech deck from moving

2.Science Relation to Experiment
the first law of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay at the steady motion unless an outside force interferes. with the tech deck experiment we saw this law in action. without a force being applied no movement can occur, or when there is an adequate amount of force applied, there would be a change in movement. we saw how friction and gravity play a big part on the first law of motion as well as air resistance.

3.Roller Coaster Relation with Experiment
this experiment relates to a roller coaster because this shows that if there is no force applied to move the roller coaster then no movement can result. furthermore, this experiment shows how there are things that could cause a change in movement, that being either decreasing or increasing the movement and speed. learning about gravity and friction are also some very helpful tips in building a roller coaster.

The Egg Drop
1. We had to make something that would keep an egg safe from a 10 foot drop. We had to use the objects around us. We had to consider air resistance and the cousioning around the egg.

2. Air resistance slowed the egg down if you made a parachute. Air resistance works best with an object that is light weight and a large surface area.

3. If you want to slow the ride down put a parachute in the back.
